My Mom Has A Facebook...

Facebook is becoming a trend for the older folks now. It is understandable because they are able to reconnect with old friends and those who own their own business are able to network. I've heard of petitions and all sorts of things where people are trying to get their parents off of Facebook. Now, yes it is kind of weird to find your mom posting pictures and actually having a life but I believe that many people are mad because they don't want their mom to see certain things that are posted about themselves on Facebook.

Honestly, you won't catch me on Facebook saying or doing something that I wouldn't want my mom to see. Why would you post it on the Internet if you don't want certain people to see it? Really makes no sense at all. Now while I do blog, sometimes there are posts that I wish to keep private and I use online journaling as an alternative to having hard copies of things I don't want lying around or accessible. Yea, I know journals and blogs can still be hacked but, whatever. I'm taking the risks knowing that theres no one out there that cares enough to hack into my things LOL.

Being in PR, I know that even my online writing is to be criticized from outside sources but I hope that they realize my blogs are purely entertainment and not even to be taken any types of serious. I try to dot my 'i's and cross my 't's as much as I feel like it, but the bottom line is to watch what you do online. It could come back to haunt you...

I HATE Septa More and More Every Day!

So, because we all know that it takes at least an hour to get any where when you are taking a bus to your destination in Philadelphia, I decided to be at my stop by 11am to be at my internship at 12pm. I did not have enough time to make breakfast or get a decent breakfast from a restaurant so I stopped at the convenient little Dunkin' Donuts near the transportation center. The first bus that I needed to take came as soon as I walked out of the place, so I couldn't eat it before I got on. Once I was on the bus there was just too many people to try and eat.

I get off that bus to get on to the second bus that will take me to where I need to go. As I'm waiting for the second bus I decide to eat my bagel and cream cheese. I really don't like to spread the cream cheese on my bagel and instead of spreading it for me, Dunkin' Donuts provided me with a cute little container of cream cheese. It actually was perfect because I could dip my bagel instead. When the second bus came, I was about 90% finished my bagel.

On to the second bus I go and the driver is just staring at me and I had my ear phones on so if he did say anything I didn't hear. I just politely said, "Hi," and took my seat. My stop is coming up so I stand and the following conversation occurs:

Driver: Where is the stuff you came on the bus with?
Me: I ate it.
Driver: What? You ate the container too?
Me: No, its in my bag.
Driver: Oh, I thought you left your trash on my bus. I was going to come after you.
Me: Don't insult my mother's home training skills. No I wouldn't leave trash on your bus. I'm not a nasty person.
Driver: Have a good day.
Me: *Silence*

I pity this transportation system every day! In fact I talked to Nate about them last night and their disgusting ways. I don't understand how I pay for the services and still I have to get up really early just to get to a destination that takes 20 minutes to get to because their buses are either late or run only every hour. I don't understand how I pay to receive nasty service from their employees. I also don't understand how they continue to raise costs but continuously go on strike. The Septa service is pure comedy because they can't really believe that we take them seriously. As many times that I send a bad service report to Septa, I'm sure you will hear much more from me on this blog about my experiences as well.

New York, New York

It has been one heck of a week! I meant to post a blog about New York yesterday but never got around to it. The trip was really great! Nathan and I took the China Town bus and saying that it was an experience was an under statement! First off, I was freaking out because I'm one of those people that is extra hype about the Swine Flu breakout. There was just this foul smell at first and I'm like, "OMG if anybody on this bus smells like that then they must have the Swine Flu!" Eventually it faded but I'm afraid that it only faded because we got used to it and not because there was fresh air coming in. By the end of the lady in front of us kept sneezing, so now at this point I'm getting queasy LOL! Anyway, we weren't that far by the time this happened so as soon as we got off the bus, I had to use the restroom and wash my hands.

Making our way to Canal Street there happened to be a Popeye's Chicken so I decided to go in to use the restroom which was probably worst than using the one on the bus. There was the longest line with only one toilet in the whole restaurant. Everybody goes and then one of the employees stands in front of me and grabs a broom. I'm thinking that he is just sweeping but no! The person who was using the bathroom comes out and the employee starts opening the door in order to clean and stepped right in front of him and said, "close the door, I have to pee!" He gave me a hassle but I did not wait in line for 15 minutes for him to start cleaning the bathroom in front of me! So at this point New York is really not rubbing me the right way.

Finally, we are on Canal Street. Now I'm kind of bummed out because all of the merchants are basically selling the same things! The one thing lifting my spirits is that the underground handbag sells were hilarious! They were no joke and on their grind trying to sell me some 'Fucci' and 'Lew-Wee.' Other than that... HATED IT!

Then we make our way to this thing called MTA aka Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Why did I love the subway system better than Canal Street? MTA beats SEPTA any day of the week, rain or shine. BTW... Nathan swears that we saw Jessica Biel. There was a train running every minute, to every where in the city. I was more than impressed.

Glamorous Times Square was our destination. It was beautiful but the first thing that caught my fat little eyes was Junior's. I didn't matter if I was hungry or not, I just needed to taste a piece of this famous cheesecake and it was well worth it!!!! Next stop, Toy's R Us. In all honesty, T.V. makes the store look bigger than it actually is. Same with the Hershey Store. When they had only a certain amount of time in the Hershey Store on Project Runway it made sense that they were rushing on television. In person I was thinking, "I could run around this store in no time." The stores were great to see anyway.

We ate dinner at Red Lobster and the biscuits were the best I've ever tasted! Maybe its because I haven't had Red Lobster in a long time but Nate thinks that is is because all the food in New York tastes better.. All I know is that you can never find a good cheese steak anywhere else but Philly. Therefore Nate's case is null and void LOL. I was so stuffed by the end of dinner that I didn't want to move but walking was the best way to get the extra pounds off.

We tried making it in enough time to head over to Old Navy but we couldn't find it and when we did, the store was closed. So we hopped on the train back to china town to catch the bus back home. Once again this was another experience LOL. It amused me that the bus driver would just drop people off wherever they wanted, even it was in a lonely dark street!

The trip was good and I had fun. Any time I spend with my Nate is a good time. Next time I want to map out where we should go so that we don't waste time trying to figure out what to do next. I really want to visit Dave & Buster's in Times Square as well. I will be back New York!
