It has been one heck of a week! I meant to post a blog about New York yesterday but never got around to it. The trip was really great! Nathan and I took the China Town bus and saying that it was an experience was an under statement! First off, I was freaking out because I'm one of those people that is extra hype about the Swine Flu breakout. There was just this foul smell at first and I'm like, "OMG if anybody on this bus smells like that then they must have the Swine Flu!" Eventually it faded but I'm afraid that it only faded because we got used to it and not because there was fresh air coming in. By the end of the lady in front of us kept sneezing, so now at this point I'm getting queasy LOL! Anyway, we weren't that far by the time this happened so as soon as we got off the bus, I had to use the restroom and wash my hands.
Making our way to Canal Street there happened to be a Popeye's Chicken so I decided to go in to use the restroom which was probably worst than using the one on the bus. There was the longest line with only one toilet in the whole restaurant. Everybody goes and then one of the employees stands in front of me and grabs a broom. I'm thinking that he is just sweeping but no! The person who was using the bathroom comes out and the employee starts opening the door in order to clean and stepped right in front of him and said, "close the door, I have to pee!" He gave me a hassle but I did not wait in line for 15 minutes for him to start cleaning the bathroom in front of me! So at this point New York is really not rubbing me the right way.
Finally, we are on Canal Street. Now I'm kind of bummed out because all of the merchants are basically selling the same things! The one thing lifting my spirits is that the underground handbag sells were hilarious! They were no joke and on their grind trying to sell me some 'Fucci' and 'Lew-Wee.' Other than that... HATED IT!
Then we make our way to this thing called MTA aka Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Why did I love the subway system better than Canal Street? MTA beats SEPTA any day of the week, rain or shine. BTW... Nathan swears that we saw Jessica Biel. There was a train running every minute, to every where in the city. I was more than impressed.
Glamorous Times Square was our destination. It was beautiful but the first thing that caught my fat little eyes was Junior's. I didn't matter if I was hungry or not, I just needed to taste a piece of this famous cheesecake and it was well worth it!!!! Next stop, Toy's R Us. In all honesty, T.V. makes the store look bigger than it actually is. Same with the Hershey Store. When they had only a certain amount of time in the Hershey Store on Project Runway it made sense that they were rushing on television. In person I was thinking, "I could run around this store in no time." The stores were great to see anyway.
We ate dinner at Red Lobster and the biscuits were the best I've ever tasted! Maybe its because I haven't had Red Lobster in a long time but Nate thinks that is is because all the food in New York tastes better.. All I know is that you can never find a good cheese steak anywhere else but Philly. Therefore Nate's case is null and void LOL. I was so stuffed by the end of dinner that I didn't want to move but walking was the best way to get the extra pounds off.
We tried making it in enough time to head over to Old Navy but we couldn't find it and when we did, the store was closed. So we hopped on the train back to china town to catch the bus back home. Once again this was another experience LOL. It amused me that the bus driver would just drop people off wherever they wanted, even it was in a lonely dark street!
The trip was good and I had fun. Any time I spend with my Nate is a good time. Next time I want to map out where we should go so that we don't waste time trying to figure out what to do next. I really want to visit Dave & Buster's in Times Square as well. I will be back New York!
